Information & Outreach
The Wisconsin Farm Center, with its staff of professionals
who come from diverse agricultural backgrounds, can provide farmers and
their family members with a wide range of information and outreach services
on a multitude of topics. The center also serves as a resource to connect
farmers with many state, university and federal programs. The staff and
trained volunteers provide guidance and assistance to help people find
the services and information they need.
Weekend Getaways
Farming offers abundant opportunities to experience freedom, independence and satisfaction. It can also bring stress, feelings of frustration, and little time for relationships. Weekend Getaways provide and opportunity for Wisconsin farmers to take a break, focus on their family and relationship building skills, have time to make key decisions and set goals, and enjoy some time away from the farm. There are getaways designed for farm couples, farm women, and farm men. These small group workshops are funded by grants through the Sowing the Seeds of Hope project. There is no cost to attend the weekend. Space is filled first-come-first serve and is limited.
Wisconsin
Farmers' Resource Guide
This on-line resource directory provides information about public and
local resources farmers and their family members may find useful. The
directory offers program and contact information for a variety of resources
including financial, legal, business planning, basic needs, health care,
counseling, employment, training, and more. You can search the resource
guide by county or by subject area.
Technical Assistance
Almost every change you make on the farm will need technical assistance,
and the Farm Center staff can give you general information as well as
link you to those people who can provide specific technical assistance.
Volunteers
One of the unique features of the Farm Center is the solid corps of trained
volunteers who donate their time and talents to help Wisconsin's farm
families. These volunteers have a variety of skills and backgrounds, but
they all share a common love for Wisconsin agriculture and have a common
desire to serve.
Outreach and Support
The Farm Center features a number of outreach and support services for
farmers and their families. The center's staff and volunteers perform
on-farm visits, put on presentations for groups, conduct workshops and
seminars on numerous agricultural related topics, and host informational
booths at many farms events.
Publications
The Farm Center has access to a wide array of agricultural publications,
ranging from its own newsletter to a number of additional Department of
Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection publications to other ag-related
periodicals.
