Wisconsin Clean Sweep can collect and dispose a wide range of business chemicals. Pesticides, cleaners, disinfectants, solvents, lead and metal-based paints, and vehicle fluids are often seen along with an endless number of manufacturing and process chemicals such as oxidizers, acids, technical grade chemicals, laboratory reagents, polymers, reactive metals, mercury-based products, PCBs, etc. Clean Sweep may also be able to accept sump and weigh-pit sludge under certain conditions too.

NOTE: Pesticides, agricultural sludge, and certain agricultural chemicals are eligible for a 50 percent disposal subsidy. You must contact your county coordinator or the county's hazardous waste hauler for this benefit.

Certain Quantity Limits
While a large variety of chemicals are acceptable, the type and quantity do make a difference. The federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) provides clear standards for the disposal of certain listed chemicals. If certain chemicals are present in certain quantities, this could require a business to get collection service under Small or Large Quantity Generator (SQG or LQG) conditions. This does not mean chemicals cannot be disposed, it simply means that program waste haulers must pick up chemicals at business sites.

It is strongly recommended that businesses contact program hazardous waste haulers to get the best and most accurate information on chemical disposal options. Also, keep in mind that all chemicals with hazardous properties are NOT hazardous wastes. Therefore these chemicals will NOT count against annual hazardous waste limits through RCRA.
